Owen for chairman?

Looks like Owen Meredith has thrown his hat into the ring in the race for National Chairman.

“These reforms will give the people on the ground the authority to make the decisions on a structure that works for the local members, serving them efficiently and effectively.”

The article has a certain feel good factor to it and reads very much like the launch of a leadership campaign.

We don’t wish him well in his bid as these reforms have destroyed CF.

The current leadership has been incredibly devious and they thought that they got away with watering the reforms down but they haven’t.

Area Chairman are now optional when it was promised that they would not be.

Regional Co-ordinators are replacing the National Management Executive and it is undecided whether they will be elected.

The only election is the National Chairman.

So Owen I’m afraid that you don’t have our vote.

Isn't that quote from the collective NME statement on the CF blog, rather than just from Owen?!

Well considering the NME were split in half it with beige and Christian and ABB voting in favour I'd say it isn't really from the entire NME

He'd love it, but there's more chance of Labour winning the next election! The fact he'd love it means he shouldn't get it, too.

especially after that supposedly anonymous e-mail sent to TB!!

I cry with laughter every time I read it

How is that a pitch for the leadership? He's pro-reforms, well so are a lot of people!

Find me 5 people pro reform aside the 3 NME members - there are not "a lot" of people pro-reform but noone would know because we haven't been asked.

The membership are being asked.

Comments on the reforms are being requested over on the cf blog [http://executive.cfbranch.com].

i think that it is a bit ridiculous to assume that Owen is running for Chair based purely from a quote lifted from the NME statement, why dont we wait untill he makesa statement to that effect himself.

Anyway i think he should run for chair, he is the only one on the exec who appears to be doing any work, at the moment, this years Fresher's Packs are better than ever before.

this is the problem - do no work, stay of the radar and you dont get slated; work hard and care about CF and you get it in the neck!

the beige blur would never win chair.

My agent among a fair few others have been incredibly worried about the lateness of this year's freshers packs so please do not make anyone laugh by suggesting Owen did a good job. Have you seen the tshirts!?!

are you joking?

you seriously think that he'll win based on the fact that he voted in favour of the reforms.

if you believe that a democractic youth organisation should appoint regional co-ordinators, area chairman and branch chairman then vote for owen.

if not then vote for steve.

it's terrible that the cf reforms simply state that all positions except national chairman are undecided.

equally the list of the 12 regional co-ordinators are hilarious- rock's best friends.

anyone who's for this- join labour students as they appoint the chairman

Right, I don't mind criticsm - in fact I welcome it, when there is a valid point - but this years freshers' packs went out earlier than every before.

They were sent out 2 weeks in advance of the first event, and nearly a month in advance of the majority.

The t-shirts were not my design they werre done by CCHQ marketing department and cost CF nothing - i'm not one to turn down a freebie!
